What is Artificial Intelligence and why is it the future?

What is AI?

The human brain is a vast sea of connections and neural networks that has the capabilities to store information in vast quantities. Mankind has advanced quite a long way when it comes to data storage technology and is not far from achieving the same computational storage capacity as a normal human being (10 terabytes ~ 100 terabytes as estimated by most of the world's computational neurologists).

However, the most fascinating and mysterious part of the human brain is not how it stores the information, but how it retrieves certain pieces of information from that storage to eventually piece together a solution to any problem or challenge placed before it. Any machine that manages to accomplish such a task without being explicitly programmed to do so, is known to be Artificially Intelligent. As you can now see, the gap between natural entities such human/animal behavior and the machine world is gradually getting closer. The studies which contribute to bridging this gap is collectively labelled under the topic, Artificial Intelligence.

The Demand?

AI is still a sensitive topic out there on the technology market. Human Development is so fast nowadays that there will soon be a time where there are a number of tasks that may prove to be inefficient to assign manual labor to complete...unless there is some 'reinforcement' or 'technical aid' coming from the synthetic side of our world. I personally feel that such a future is approaching us. The reason being that, the most important human feeling that has been fueling technological development on all sectors of our growing world, is laziness. Without the need to feel lazy, such advancements would not have been made and we would surely work as hard as the cows that plow our farm fields. This feeling has passed on generation to generation to a point where, we need something else or someone else to solve a problem for us when we are either occupied by something else or are unable to solve it quickly enough. From this, it should be clear that any Artificially Intelligent product nowadays should fetch an incredibly high value in the global tech market as the demand of such a synthetic workforce will skyrocket for various personal/economical reasons. However, the development of a perfect AI product will take years from now and certain precautions will have to be taken into account to make sure that there are no mistakes such as the conflict of the Fundamental Laws of Robotics.

Humanity has advanced so far since the dawn of its time, that the digital replication of emotional feelings is near its release. I can now surely say that as a software developer and an entrepreneur, that Artificial Intelligence is the future in terms of profit and technological advancements.
